I do use social media, but I generally try not to spend too much time on it. Information just keeps flowing in, and time flies by in the blink of an eye.
I log in just to post something, and as soon as I’ve finished, I log out straight away. Part of it is that I’m not particularly good at interacting with people.
However, I do find myself getting drawn in by videos featuring animals.
I can’t help but be drawn to videos of dogs in particular. And then I think of my own dog.
My dog had quite a few health issues from a young age. Food allergies, and hair loss due to hypothyroidism.
One day, she suddenly developed a hernia and had to undergo surgery; she also started having sudden epileptic seizures, which continued right up until she passed away.
Looking back now, I wish I’d kept a proper record of everything.
We were always together, and I think if I’d done that, I would have noticed any changes much sooner.
There are things I saw, felt and remember, but it’s difficult to retain every minute detail in my memory.
‘I wish I’d done this back then’ – I think I’ve at least come to feel that way less often.
I’d like to live with a dog again one day, and when I do, I’m determined to keep a record. Even on days when there isn’t much to write about, I’ll jot down at least a single line.
I think that’s the best way to be able to respond quickly when changes occur.
By recording even the smallest of feelings, they become memories when I look back on them later.
As these memories accumulate, I believe they’ll become a precious album that will surely heal me, even if it takes a little time after she’s passed on.
I wonder if she’s doing well over there?
I found myself thinking something like that.
