I write everything down — every stray thought, every small thing that catches my attention.
The point is simple: don’t forget. Even if I don’t need it right away, I still write it down.
The other day, something surfaced — “wait, that reminds me” — and when I went looking, it turned out I actually needed it. Other times, I’ll just think, “ah, that was from back then.”
Apparently, writing things down does something to the brain.
They say handwriting works best. But these days, pen and paper barely make an appearance.
I’m at my computer more than ever now, and lately I don’t even type — I talk. Voice input has become the default. Whether that changes anything, I honestly don’t know.
I record my thoughts by voice constantly. Sometimes I read them back right away. Sometimes the next day.
It feels less like writing and more like opening a drawer I didn’t know I had.
Either way — even a passing note, if it holds a little of what I felt in that moment, ends up mattering later. Useful sometimes. Nostalgic, other times.
It’s a habit I want to keep.
