The People I Don't Keep Around

The People I Don't Keep Around

I stopped by the page of someone I always exchange comments with.

They’d written about it — someone new had tried to react to their post, only to find they’d been blocked.

They seemed almost pleased about it.

I’m rarely logged in for long. That platform lets you read without logging in, so I do — quietly, no account watching over my shoulder. If something lands, I react. If it doesn’t, I just move on.

I’ve never been blocked myself. But I block.

More people lately have felt careless — not cruel, just careless. The kind of careless that costs you nothing to notice and everything to ignore.

I don’t linger anymore. I don’t wonder what they meant by it.

I doubt they even know.

From now on, anyone who brings nothing but noise gets cut, quickly.
